DAVID: What got you interested in Rober Service, FU?

FU: I came across one of his poems in an anthology.

CHUN: Which one?

FU: Which poem? Dangerious Dan McGrew.

CHUN: Even I've heard of Dangerious Dan McGrew,

DAVID:That's probably one of his best known works.
那首可能是他最著名的诗篇之一。
FU: Were all those stories true?

DAVID: The stories?

FU: About the gold rush up here in the Yukon.
关于育空地区淘金热的故事。
DAVID:Oh, sure, Thousands of people came up here to Dawson to get rich.

LING: When was that?

DAVID:Around the turn of last century, It began in 1896, Seven years later it was all over.

FU:Did anyone get rich?

DAVID: A few people did, But not many.

FU:Wasn't there any gold?

DAVID:Yes, a lot of it. But most of the fortune seekers left here worse off than when they arrived.

FU: What happened?

DAVID: Mostly high prices and bad luck,
主要原因是成本高和运气差。
FU: I suppose the gold rush didn't do much for the development of the North.

DAVID: It certianly didn't.
